Between 22nd and 24th June, organisations from across the global food and drink industry value chain gathered in Saskatoon, Canada.
SAI Platform’s Annual Event 2026 brought together members and local industry experts to Saskatoon, Canada, for three days of discussion, field visits and farmer-led learning focused on the future of regenerative agriculture.
SAI Platform’s Annual Event in Saskatoon, Canada, brought together farmers, food and beverage companies, researchers, policymakers and sustainability experts around a common objective: accelerating the transition to more resilient agricultural systems. The event demonstrated the value of creating space for dialogue across the value chain, connecting those setting sustainability ambitions with those delivering them on the ground.
Throughout the event, participants repeatedly returned to the importance of understanding local realities before designing programmes or setting targets. Farmers, researchers and industry representatives highlighted that meaningful progress depends on listening first and building solutions around context. This principle sits at the heart of SAI Platform’s Regenerating Together Programme (RTP), launched this year, which begins with context analysis and places farmers at the centre of programme design.
Case studies from companies including LDC and Soufflet Malt showed how RTP is helping create greater alignment across agricultural supply chains. By providing a common framework while remaining adaptable to local conditions, RTP enables businesses, producers and partners to work towards shared outcomes without imposing a one-size-fits-all approach. Members described the framework as providing a common “north star” while preserving the flexibility needed to respond to different farming systems and geographies.
Perhaps the strongest message from Saskatoon was that collaboration remains the sector’s greatest enabler. Conversations in meeting rooms were reinforced by discussions in fields, on farms and during site visits. These exchanges built trust, challenged assumptions and strengthened connections between producers and supply chain actors. By bringing diverse perspectives together, SAI Platform continues to help turn individual insights into collective action and create the conditions needed to scale regenerative agriculture.
