5th June 2018

BRUSSELS 5 June 2018 – On 24-26 April the SAI Platform Annual Event 2018 in Aarhus, Denmark, brought together industry leaders, farmers and experts from a broad range of companies across the food and drink sector.

Over the course of the two days, #SAIPlatform2018 examined practical and potential solutions for the challenges that lie ahead in agriculture. On-the-ground field visits looked at the technology and innovation already in use or in experimental phase in Danish agriculture. Addressing and inspiring the audience on current topics such as big data, technology for smallholder farmers and blockchain lab for Agri-food, were Jason Clay (WWF), David Hunt (Co-founder, Cainthus) and Raja Ramachandran (CEO, Ripe.io) while Leontino Balbo (São Francisco and Santo Antonio Sugar Mills) provided the farmers’ perspective on Smart Farms.

Adrian Greet, Director General of SAI Platform remarked – “I left Aarhus excited and proud of yet another excellent Annual Event for SAI Platform. Coming together reinforces our strengths and value as a Platform, and shows how shared learning and collaboration in areas of action really scales our delivery and ultimately catalyses our success.

Adrian added – “I want to thank the organisers from the Secretariat along with local partners Arla, Nordzucker, VisitAarhus and the Danish Agriculture and Food Council who gave us great support and contributed to the success of this event. Special thanks must also go to our sponsors Mars, Arla and Marks & Spencer.

A final post-conference report is scheduled to be released next week.
