The challenge

Many SAI Platform members work with smallholder supply chains, yet launching regenerative agriculture sourcing programs in these contexts remains difficult. As a result, most validated approaches to regenerative agriculture still centre on largescale farming in Europe and North America. In fragmented smallholder value chains, however, existing methods can be adapted to overcome these barriers and effectively support farmers aiming to engage in regenerative supply chains.

Objectives

  • To test and validate regenerative agriculture practices with smallholder potato farmers in India.
  • To develop and pilot a new approach for monitoring and supporting farmer livelihoods in the transition towards regenerative agriculture.
