The challenge
The increasingly unhealthy state of soils in Europe threatens food production, diminishes biodiversity, and accelerates climate change. Currently, over 60% of European soil has been degraded by unsustainable land management, including methods of intensive farming.
We are investigating how Regenerative and Conservation Agriculture Practices could restore soil health and support the long-term productivity, environmental sustainability, and economic viability of farms.
The project has included Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Slovenia, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.
Objectives
To drive the transformation of European agriculture towards greater resilience and sustainability and as climate change weighs more heavily on farmers.
Funding
TRAILS4SOIL is funded by the EU’s Horizon Europe programme (Grant agreement ID: 101218949) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI).
