SAI Platform’s Regenerative Agriculture Programme is hosting a webinar, open to all members.  The focus will be on the role of mineral fertilisers in soil fertility and regenerative agriculture.

Agenda:

Balanced Nutrition – Tommaso Stella

  • Nutrients are the building blocks of our food: The role of nutrients; Liebig’s barrel, typical crop removals verses soil supply with and without fertilisers.
  • Carbon sequestration is nutrient sequestration: How balanced nutrition can stimulate carbon sequestration and soil health.
  • Stimulating yield to reduce the environmental footprint: The impact of fertiliser on LUE, and WUE.

Sustainable Nitrogen Management – Anke Kwast

  • Mineral fertiliser to supplement organic nutrient cycles: NMP, soil and crop analysis, dynamic N management, precision ag.
  • How to manage NUE within the planetary boundaries: Scientific review, EUNEP concept, Yara performance.

Regenerative Agriculture Toolbox: Putting Principles into Practice – Anke Kwast / Silvia Tonti

  • Toolbox and indicators

Speakers:

Tommaso Stella is a Senior Strategic & Commercial Analyst at Yara International. He contributes to developing the company’s climate-neutral roadmap, focusing on interventions to improve nutrient use efficiency and reduce in-field emissions. In his previous experiences as a researcher, Tommaso analysed and modeled cropping systems at different scales. He started from the greenhouse gas emissions in Northern Italy rice fields and later shifted to quantifying regional and global impacts of climate change on crop production.

Anke Kwast is VP Climate Neutral Roadmap & Business Support at Yara International. She brings over 30 years of experience in Crop Nutrition & Sustainability R&D with a broad foundation of expertise. Before she focused on climate neutrality, she was VP Crop Nutrition R&D in Yara, leading a research team to develop sustainable solutions for nutrient and water management in agriculture and with many projects in collaboration with Food Chain Partnerships.
