More than 35 pilot initiatives across 25 countries and 23 production systems have now validated this strengthened four-step framework designed to help the global food and beverage supply chain transition to regenerative agriculture. The results and feedback mark a key milestone ahead of the launch of SAI Platform’s Regenerating Together Programme.

Since the release of the first version in 2023, the pilots have been carried out with some of the world’s largest food and beverage businesses and focused on ensuring that the programme can work across crops, dairy and beef farming systems and local conditions around the world. Designed as a clear four-step process, the programme gives industry an adaptable route forward to transition to regenerative agriculture.

Among the companies involved in Regenerating Together pilots are SAI Platform members Nestlé, Wildfarmed, Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) and McCain.  This pilot phase implemented the four-step framework and validated the verification system with Nestlé in Canada focusing on oats across 25 farms, while Wildfarmed tested the framework across wheat, oats and barley on 150 UK farms. Ongoing longer-term initiatives include multi-stakeholder projects in India covering potato smallholder farming, Denmark covering arable farming, and in Argentina covering peanut farming.

The pilots were developed to refine the Regenerating Together Programme to make it applicable at a global scale without losing relevance at a local farm level. The aim of this programme is to bridge the gap in regenerative agriculture between sector ambition and practical delivery. Large supply chains need consistency, and the pilot phase has helped to demonstrate that a common definition and process can be used across those differences while allowing for local adaptation.

“Completing these pilots has been critical to developing the Regenerating Together Programme ahead of the upcoming launch. It provides an evidence base which will give the industry the confidence to transition to regenerative agriculture. We’ve now seen the programme tested across a wide range of production systems, geographies and value chains, with input from farmers and major food businesses working in very different conditions. That has helped us to shape an approach that is clear enough for companies to act on, but flexible enough to reflect the reality of farming on the ground. This work gives the industry a tested, scalable foundation – the moment to act is now.”

Dionys Forster, Director General, SAI Platform.

Highlighting the impact of the programme, Rob Bray, Chief People & Sustainability Officer at Wildfarmed, said:

“Wildfarmed was built on the belief that nature and food production must co-exist. We were drawn to the Regenerating Together Programme because it aligns with our core mission: delivering measurable outcomes for soil, water, and biodiversity while remaining farmer-centric. In testing the framework, we’ve seen its power to provide a clear, actionable roadmap that cuts through the noise of what ‘regenerative’ means, providing a critical opportunity to scale nature-friendly food systems.”

Axelle Bodoy, Global Head of Regenerative Agriculture, LDC, added: “As a leading merchant and processor of agricultural goods, accelerating the transition to regenerative agriculture fully aligns with our work supporting farmers across our key supply sheds, highly diverse geographies and farming systems. The pilot has demonstrated that a robust, common framework can help programs to scale up while remaining locally relevant and impactful, delivering credible, measurable and consistent outcomes at farm level, for the benefit of all supply chain stakeholders. As we move beyond the pilot phase, we are confident that the Regenerating Together Programme will support farmers undertaking this transition, while helping optimise MRV and implementation costs for financing partners.”

SAI Platform will host the public launch of the next phase of the Regenerating Together Programme in June 2026 at its upcoming Annual Event in Saskatoon, Canada. The launch will showcase new resources, provide opportunities for peer-to-peer engagement, and invite broader participation from the food and beverage industry to accelerate regenerative agriculture adoption worldwide.
