Around the world, more than 700m people face food insecurity, according to the UN. Climate change, economic shocks and armed conflicts destabilise supply chains and intensify the stress on food systems from production to consumption.

In 2026 Economist Impact’s inaugural Future of Food Summit will focus on the economics of food-system transformation.
