We welcome Axereal as a SAI Platform member

16th October 2024

“By joining SAI Platform, we are creating a powerful synergy between Axereal’s regenerative agriculture initiatives and the global vision of the ‘Regenerating Together’ programme. This collaboration enables us to harmonise our efforts, while advancing a just transition that benefits both farmers and the environment”

Pierre Toussaint, Sustainable Development Director

Axereal is a leading agricultural and food processing cooperative group, operating both in France and globally. The cooperative sources grain and creates value-added supply chains, specialising in the processing of grain for malting (Boortmalt) and milling (Axiane).

Axereal represents 11,000 cooperative members and employs 4,000 people. The cooperative’s mission is to maximise the value of farmers’ production while securing their long-term future. To achieve this and align with market demands, Axereal is promoting its regenerative agriculture model, both in the field and with its processing sites.

Axereal made its initial commitment to sustainable agriculture in 2017 with the introduction of its CultivUp standards, which are aligned with the Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) requirements. By 2024, 100% of the 3,000 farmers participating in the CultivUp programme were verified at FSA Silver Performance Level. In 2024, CultivUp evolved into CultivUp Régénératif, a sustainable, low-carbon, rotation-based, and yield-focused agricultural model. This new standard includes regenerative agriculture outcome indicators to demonstrate the environmental benefits of practices aimed at reducing greenhouse gases, enhancing soil fertility, and protecting biodiversity. It also seeks to improve the resilience of farmers cultivating cereals, oilseeds, and protein crops against climate-related risks.
