On 23rd September the global dairy industry gathered at the IDF World Dairy Summit in Istanbul where the Sustainable Dairy Partnership (SDP) was officially unveiled. The SDP offers a united industry-wide push towards global sustainability. As a collective approach for commercial relationships between dairy customers and their suppliers, the aim of the SDP is to have a lasting effect across the supply chain while addressing environmental and social issues.

SAI Platform, Director General, Adrian Greet commented that “For members of SAI Platform’s Dairy Working Group, the SDP is the successful result of real industry collaboration. This is a clear example of the dairy industry acknowledging the need to take on more responsibility and make further progress on sustainability measures.

Speaking about the launch of the SDP, Caroline Emond, Director General of the International Dairy Federation said “The International Dairy Federation supports a vibrant dairy sector committed to adopting sustainable practices and ultimately being a key contributor to sustainable food systems. We’re delighted that the decision was taken to launch this innovative project at the IDF World Dairy Summit 2019.

22 companies including SAI Platform founding members Danone, Nestlé and Unilever are working together to develop this new approach for a more sustainable dairy industry. This is what they have to say:
