FSA Implementation: Carbon Conscious Barley in Argentina
Since 2020, Alea y Cia has focused strongly on sustainable barley production, coordinating a Farm Management Group (FMG) of 13 producers in the south-east of Buenos Aires Province.
Overview
Through FSA verification, Alea supports producers in identifying key sustainability gaps and implementing targeted actions.
The initiative focuses on:
– Carbon footprint measurement: establishing a baseline for barley cultivation.
– Training and support: funding the PUMA tool and providing access, training, and tailored assistance.
– Environmental responsibility: encouraging lower‑impact fertilisers, proper equipment calibration, and the use of soil analysis.
