Denise Welch

Denise is the interim Dairy Programme Manager for SAI Platform, facilitating the advancement of sustainable dairy practices with the SAI Dairy Working Group members through pre-competitive collaboration and knowledge sharing. Denise also acts as Special Projects Manager for SAI Platform to design and lead GHG projects for the crops and beef communities. 

Denise brings 20 years of experience in sustainability and environmental project management. She was previously a Senior Climate Change Specialist at SustainCERT SA, where she guided food and agriculture companies on choosing suitable GHG methodologies and designing credible supply chain interventions to reduce their Scope 3 emissions. Prior to SustainCERT, Denise worked for several non-profit foundations on climate change mitigation and adaptation projects, including for The Gold Standard Foundation, where she co-developed standards, verification guidelines, and training programs for key stakeholders. In addition, Denise has worked for the United Nations on sustainable agricultural policy and rural development. 

With university degrees in agricultural ecology and sustainable development, coupled with robust field experience, Denise is well-placed to work with members in both a theoretical as well as a practical setting to achieve sustainability outcomes.
