Argentina Launches Regenerative Peanuts Partnership Aimed at Sector‑Wide Transformation
1st April 2026
A new international partnership has been launched in Argentina to transform the country’s peanut supply chain into a model of regenerative agriculture and credible climate reporting.

SAI Platform’s Regenerative Landscapes Partnership: The Argentina Peanuts Project, in collaboration with The Peanut Chamber and Fundación Maní Argentino (the Argentine Peanut Foundation), aims to support growers adopting practices that improve soil health, build climate resilience, and strengthen the reliability of Scope 3 data used by global buyers. Argentina is the world’s leading exporter of peanuts, making sector‑wide improvements both urgent and influential.
Initiated in 2026, this three-year project brings together SAI Platform members Ferrero, Importaco, Intersnack, Lorenz, Mars, and Pip & Nut alongside local collaborators and technical experts from implementing partner organisations: GapGreen, Puma, and Soil Capital.

The initiative builds on earlier collaboration between SAI Platform’s peanut‑buying members who have worked to raise sustainability performance in a supply chain dominated by the largest suppliers in Argentina. This new phase responds to clear industry demand: companies need consistent guidance, robust data, and tools that work at farm level. The project provides that structure, developed collectively with suppliers and local partners. Wider implications for the project look to extend beyond the supply chains of collaborating companies, contributing to Argentina’s broader transition to regenerative production.
Core activities include capacity building for suppliers, adoption of service crops, no‑till systems, and Environmental Impact Quotient monitoring. A set of voluntary innovation practices such as agroforestry, hedgerows, and biological inputs, offers space to test deeper regenerative approaches. A new Rulebook for regenerative peanut production will be created to bring alignment across the sector.
An independently verified measurement, reporting, and verification system will underpin all results, giving participating companies credible, science‑based evidence for their sustainability claims while offering insights that can be shared openly with the wider industry. Field implementation begins in March 2026.
“Fundación Maní Argentino values the opportunity to participate in this initiative alongside international partners and local stakeholders. Argentina’s peanut sector has built a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and responsible production, and our goal is to build on these responsible practices to create greater value for our products for European consumers. Initiatives like this help further develop practical tools, reliable data, and shared knowledge that benefit both producers and global partners.“
