Learn how SAI Platform’s Regenerating Together Framework (RTF) is being practically applied in the dairy sector through the Future Fit Dairy Initiative (FFDI).

A new case study highlights how SAI Platform’s Regenerating Together Framework (RTF) is being practically applied in the dairy sector through the Future Fit Dairy Initiative (FFDI). This collaborative, pre-competitive initiative brings together five major players in the Northwest European dairy value chain: Arla Foods, Danone, FrieslandCampina, dsm-firmenich , and Rabobank.
Adapting the RTF to Local Contexts
The FFDI demonstrates how the global RTF can be tailored to local realities to contribute to tangible regenerative agriculture outcomes at the farm level. It is fully aligned with the principles of the RTF and built around the five key impact areas: soil health, biodiversity, water, climate and farmers livelihoods. It applies a science-based, farmer-centered approach to promote locally relevant regenerative practices. The initiative is built on a shared commitment to prove that dairy farming can nourish communities while operating within planetary boundaries.
Through selected pilot farms in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, France, Spain, Romania, the UK, and Poland, the FFDI is testing the application of the RTF at scale. The recently released farm-level report outlines the scientific outcome indicators and scalable methodologies being used to monitor progress, providing a roadmap for implementation across diverse farming systems.
By 2027, the Future Fit Dairy Initiative aims to:
- Onboard 1,000 farmers in 10 countries and support them on the pathway to RegenAg, acting as a catalysts to reach thousands more by 2030
- Work with SAI to co-develop a harmonized MRV framework for all dairy farms, measuring outcomes, proving impact and sharing back what we learn from the field
- Support farmers in their transition with tailored guidance, farmer networks, and peer-to-peer learning, helping them connect, share, and grow together
- Demonstrate a positive, proven business case and offer transition support and tools for farmers and ecosystem to de-risk investment in RegenAg pathways
- Accelerate the RegenAg dairy movement – inspiring and creating value for farmers, industry players, financiers, NGOs and policymakers to trust, engage and scale with us
“This localised use of the Regenerating Together Framework shows what’s possible when stakeholders across and around the value chain unite behind a shared vision. The framework’s flexibility enables lasting transformation—and we invite others to share their practices, help us scale, and grow a movement towards future-fit dairy production.”
Guus van Laarhoven, FrieslandCampina
By documenting this adaptation of the Regenerating Together Framework, the FFDI sets a precedent for how global frameworks can be translated into tangible outcomes-offering a scalable model for regenerative transformation across the agri-food sector.
Get Involved
SAI Platform invites more companies, cooperatives, and producers to explore the Regenerating Together Framework and join the growing movement for regenerative agriculture. Together, we can create a food system that is resilient, productive, and within planetary boundaries.
