In celebration of SAI Platform’s 20th anniversary, over 100 members from the global food and drink industry will come together between 4th and 6th October 2022 for the SAI Platform Annual Event, taking place at the iconic Cambridge Union in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

#SAIPlatform2022 offers a wide-ranging programme, including field visits to the world-renowned Allerton Project, Rothamsted Research and Groundswell Agriculture, an insightful full-day conference followed by a celebratory 20th anniversary gala dinner and General Assembly, where SAI Platform’s new Executive Committee will be sworn in. The three-day event promises new perspectives on how to proactively address the global challenges facing the food and drink industry to accelerate the transition to more sustainable food systems.

In celebration of SAI Platform’s 20-year legacy and looking ahead to amplify collaborative efforts around the world, the theme of this year’s event is #PeoplePoweredAgriculture. Collaboration has been at the heart of SAI Platform since its conception in 2002 and by bringing together food and drink industry leaders, farmers and sustainability experts from within the financial industry and the newly emerging carbon markets, SAI Platform endeavours to facilitate honest, solution led discussions about possible solutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change and radically reshape farming practices.

“For the first time in three years, SAI Platform is delighted to be convening our community of sustainability leaders in person this October. We know that progress takes connection, collaboration and pioneering people and SAI Platform, with over 170 members from across the food and drink industry value chain, is best positioned to lead the urgent and aligned industry response required to make this transition a reality. It is only through collaboration with farmers, policymakers, academia and finance that we can de-risk the transition and ensure a faster conversion.”

Dionys Forster, Director General, SAI Platform.

The conference programme offers an energising mix of keynote speeches, panel discussions and interactive breakout sessions to address and inspire the audience on current topics, including climate, nature, livelihoods and the all-encompassing regenerative agriculture. A first for SAI Platform and in homage to this year’s historic venue, academia and industry will be brought together for an interactive, no holds barred debate on the motion, This house believes that humanity cannot meet our NET Zero ambition by 2050.

Speakers and panelists will include representatives from member companies including AB Sugar, Danone, Ingredion, Nestlé, Nordzucker, PepsiCo and Unileveras well as sustainability experts from international organisations such as the Axa Climate, Biodiversify, Cambridge Institute of Sustainability Leadership and South Pole. To provide the farmer’s perspective, we will also be joined by Juan Carlos Ardila, a coffee farmer from Colombia and John Jefferies, a local regenerative farmer based in the UK. Delegates will also hear from a plethora of farmers and consultants around the world in a video montage to highlight the global significance but local relevance of SAI Platform’s tools and programmes.

A special thanks to Platinum sponsors, PepsiCo and Syngenta and our Silver sponsor, Cargill for their support and contribution to the organisation of this event.
