“We are very excited to join SAI Platform, continuing our efforts to advance climate-smart agriculture. We look forward to working through this network, increasing our positive impact across the agri-food value chain.”

Ashley Honsberger, Interim Executive Director of CANZA

We are pleased to welcome the Canadian Alliance for Net-Zero Agri-food (CANZA), a national alliance committed to accelerating sustainable agri-food across Canada. Operating as a Solution Space of Generate Canada, an independently incorporated charity established in 1996, CANZA brings together partners from across the agri-food system to support pre-competitive collaboration and coordinated action.

Its work is grounded in the recognition that agriculture is one of the few sectors that can both reduce emissions and help remove them from the atmosphere through climate smart practices. To help realise this potential, CANZA focuses on advancing practical solutions that support farmers while strengthening the broader agri-food system.

A key priority is improving how the environmental benefits of climate-smart farming are understood, measured, and reflected in economic systems. Acting as a connector across industry, academia and communities, CANZA helps align programmes, research, and financial incentives and market demand to better support farmer decision-making and encourage the adoption of practices that contribute to improved environmental outcomes.

Initiatives such as the Million Acre Challenge Program, which aims to scale climate-smart agriculture across 365,000 acres in the next five years, reflect CANZA’s emphasis on implementation at scale and delivering coordinated system change.

Supported by a diverse group of founding partners, including the Arrell Food Institute, Boston Consulting Group, Maple Leaf Foods, McCain Foods, Nutrien, Loblaw Companies Ltd., RBC and the Smart Prosperity Institute, CANZA brings together the expertise of farmers, innovators and organisations essential to transforming Canadian agriculture.

Through its collaborative, outcome-oriented approach, CANZA is building Canada’s capacity as a global leader in climate-smart regenerative agriculture.
