16th September 2021

“Sustainability is at the forefront of our collective ambition as we aim to sustainably grow our family business for future generations. A key factor to achieving that is through sustainable sourcing; working with our supply chain to promote sustainable farming practices, increase engagement and measure improvement. By becoming a member of SAI Platform, we hope to drive widespread, long-lasting change through whole-industry alignment and continuous improvement.”

Ben Gothorp, Sustainability Manager, Simpsons Malt

Founded in 1862, Simpsons Malt is a fifth-generation, family-owned business dedicated to ensuring the supply of high-quality malt to their global network of customers.

From the company’s farming customers via their agricultural merchanting division McCreath Simpson & Prentice, to their own malt production processes and delivering of malt to the end user, they are committed to operating in an environmentally sustainable way. Central to the company’s sustainability objectives is the goal to become carbon neutral by 2030.

They have also assisted all 422 of their contracted malting barley growers in becoming Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA) verified at Gold level.
