We welcome Tate & Lyle as a SAI Platform member

27th September 2022

“SAI Platform will be a vital partner in our work with suppliers and customers to build a supply chain that has less environmental impact and is more resilient to climate change, while feeding a growing population.”

Anna Pierce, Director of Sustainability, Tate & Lyle PLC

With a 160-year heritage, Tate & Lyle is a world leader in ingredient solutions for healthier food and beverages. The company uses innovative technology to turn raw materials like corn, tapioca, and stevia leaves into ingredients and solutions that add taste, texture, nutrients and increased functionality to food and beverages. It has large-scale manufacturing operations across 39 countries, employing more than 3,500 people.

As a leading ingredient company, Tate & Lyle is proud to operate sustainable agriculture programmes for its key agricultural raw materials. Through partnerships that support farmer outreach and provide access to cutting-edge technology, Tate & Lyle is helping growing communities to more effectively target and measure the impact of efforts to protect the environment.

Participating growers in Tate & Lyle’s Sustainable Stevia Programme with Earthwatch Europe, who are being helped to adopt more environmentally friendly agronomic practices, will be supported to pursue sustainability-related verification for their stevia through SAI Platform’s Farm Sustainability Assessment. Tate & Lyle is also committed to maintaining sustainable acreage equivalent to the volume of corn it buys globally each year, which represented 1.4 million acres in 2021 with more than 22,000 fields and over 1,800 growers engaged in the programme.
