A Swiss national, who was born and raised in Asia and from his early days Robert discovered his passion for agriculture and spent many Summer holidays farming before turning his passion into his profession.
With degrees in International Agriculture (University of Bern) and teaching (Cambridge), he further specialised in sustainability and worked extensively with the Response Inducing Sustainability Evaluation (RISE) tool, one of the first agricultural sustainability assessment tools, before joining Nestlé. He is currently studying for an MBA with the Open University (UK).
Robert began his Nestlé career in China in 2003, and subsequently worked in positions as technical specialist and milk district manager before taking on the role of Corporate Head of Fresh Milk and Agricultural Services in the Greater China Region. This position included overall responsibility for operations and strategies for safe food supply chains, milk district transformation or “Agripreneurship”. In 2013, he was responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the Nestle Dairy Farming Institute (DFI) in China for which he was the End-to-End project and start-up manager.
In September 2015, Robert was appointed as the Agricultural Raw Material Sourcing Manager for the Global Nestle business and is the functional champion in Nestlé’s fresh milk sourcing activities across the world. The role includes development / implementation of sustainable sourcing strategies, Information Technology development in agriculture, value creation at farm level and LEAN farming systems. Prior to joining the Executive Committee, Robert was Chair of the SAI Platform Dairy Working Group.
