23 Jan 2024Online
4pm – 5:30pm CET
The transition to climate smart agriculture comes with significant costs and an added risk burden for farmers. De-risking and enabling the transition is consistently highlighted as one of the primary obstacles to meeting ambitious climate targets through scaling of regenerative farming.
Climate Conversations Session 6, hosted by SAI Platform’s Crops Manager, Robyn Cooper will explore the following key themes and latest insights, to support members in navigating the design and implementation of new models with farmers and other industry partners:
- Estimating the potential cost to transition in different contexts.
- An overview of the different business models that organisations are employing to incentivise adoption of new practices, and the role of different forms of partnerships being leveraged.
- Different financial mechanisms available and the supporting resourcing and tools required to make them work.
Speakers:
- Ethan Soloviev (How Good), sharing insights from a recent Sustainable Markets Initiative Agribusiness Task Force report, ‘Scaling Regenerative Farming; Levers for Implementation.
- Lena Girard (FoodDrinkEurope), sharing insights from their recently released discussion paper, ‘Funding the EU transition to more sustainable agriculture’
- Tanja Havemann (Clarmondial), sharing insights from several years collaborating across the sector on innovative approaches to financing solutions.
