Crops Working Group announce 8 projects for 2019

28th February 2019

From sugar beet in Russia and water for almonds in California, to wild harvested plants, and migrant labour in Turkey, SAI Platform’s crops projects are addressing sustainability challenges and developing practical solutions. As a result of solid collaboration and commitment among members, eight projects are now underway with more to be scoped in the months ahead.

Since its introduction in 2018, SAI Platform’s Spotlight has served as an essential catalyst to identify common challenges and facilitate new projects. The recent release of Spotlight 2.0 now includes new and improved features such as a document library and funding database. As scoping continues for new projects, investment and research is in progress to secure external funding to help achieve the growing scale and number of projects members are now requesting.

Speaking about the new projects, Nick Betts, Director, Americas: “The need to collaborate is greater than ever before and each of the eight projects involve SAI Platform members and engage directly with key stakeholders on both regional and global levels.

As we respond to common challenges and opportunities, we must increasingly be interconnected and at SAI Platform we offer this through our Working Groups and projects” added Jenny Edwards, Crops Director.
