Ebro successfully using FSA in Seville

7th February 2017

Ebro Foods, through its Spanish subsidiary, Herba Ricemills, has carried out the first Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA)evaluation of rice farmers. This was verified by a third party in the Seville area.

FSA is a multi-purpose tool developed by the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative Platform to help farmers and food & drink companies produce, sell and source sustainably grown agricultural products. A total of ten farms have been evaluated covering 8.346 ha and amounting to a volume of 55.600 tn.

Results of the evaluation were eight Gold scores and two Silver scores. This demonstrates the high level of performance in the Seville area, mainly due to the use of the Integrated Production System. Ebro Foods intends to gradually deploy FSA in the US and Europe both to back up sustainability claims and to identify opportunities for improvement.
