SAI Platform announces the election results of its 2023 Regenerative Agriculture Programme Steering Committee.

The newly elected Steering Committee consists of nine founding member representatives, who will be responsible for reviewing programme timelines, milestones, and deliverables. They are Joanna Lawrence, Senior Manager, Agriculture Sustainability Global Concepts at Arla Foods, Sarah Lockwood Global Regenerative Agriculture Manager at Danone, Rebecca Thomson Group Sustainability Manager at Kepak Group, Martina Henry, Director, Agriculture Sustainability at KraftHeinz Company, Yves Leclerc Director of Agronomy, North America at McCain Foods, Pascal Chapot Group Head of Sustainable Agriculture Development at Nestlé, Iver Drabaek Head of Sustainability at Nordzucker, Margaret Henry Senior Director, Sustainable Agriculture Strategy and External Engagement at PepsiCo and Lucas Urbano, Head of Regenerative Agriculture and Sustainable Sourcing at Unilever

The purpose of the Steering Committee is to provide expert direction and guidance in alignment with members and industry needs. It will continue to enable agility and ensure timely progress is made throughout 2023.

Elected democratically by the 33 founding members of SAI Platform’s Regenerative Agriculture Programme, the 2023 Steering Committee brings a broad range of experience that will assist the programme in achieving its goals and objectives. As the Regenerative Agriculture Programme is an overarching and holistic initiative, it is imperative that the Steering Committee offers a balanced representation of each sector (crops, beef, and dairy) and each industry segment (farmer-facing, processor/manufacturing, consumer-facing, technical assistance).

The 2023 Steering Committee’s first meeting took place last Thursday, 19th January where Yves Leclerc, Director of Agronomy, North America at McCain Foods was elected Chair. Similar to SAI Platform’s other working groups and industry solutions, the Chair will assist SAI Platform’s Regenerative Agriculture Secretariat in leading the development and ongoing deployment of the programme thoughout 2023.

Iver Drabaek, Head of Sustainability for Nordzucker was elected Deputy Chair. He will support Yves with aligning the Steering Committee and plays a crucial role in the integration of the Regenerative Agriculture Programme with SAI Platform’s other industry solutions.

The new Regenerative Agriculture Programme Steering Committee are currently working closely with the Secretariat to prepare for the release of the Regenerative Agriculture Framework v1.0 in February 2023.
