Working Groups
The Coffee Working Group
The Coffee Working Group was created in 2003 to facilitate coordinated action to resolve challenges in the coffee sector from within the industry.
These included addressing the consequences of cyclical pricing for health care, education and communications in developing countries.
In 2016, the Coffee Working Group became part of the Fruit and Nuts Working Group . The Fruit and Nuts Working Group merged with the Arable and Vegetable Working Group in 2018 to form the Crops Working Group.
During its existence, the Coffee Working Group worked with IDH, illycaffé, D.E. Master Blenders 1753 N.V. and Mondelez.
Key achievements
- 2007: 12 pilot projects to test and improve principles and practices for the coffee industry in Africa, Asia and Latin America
- 2009: Developing and publishing Principles and Practices for Sustainable Green Coffee Production
- 2012 - 2013: developing a Green Coffee Product Category Rule (PCR) on Carbon Footprint
